2001 C240-Where can I find scheduled maintenance information? Maintenance for old car

Hi guys,

I had a 2001 C240 (manual transmission) which has about 85000 miles. Well, it is time for service B maintenance and I usually just change oil and filter and air filter (and wiper if needed). The car is going to be 10 years old and I am wondering if I need to take care of any additional maintenance.

I haven’t change brake fluid, engine coolant, fuel filter, etc for the last 5 years. I am wondering about timing belt too. I looked at the owner manual, I may be blind but I can’t find any maintenance related information.

The car also has some rust at the trunk and I wondering how to get rid of the rust. I am not in the position to buy another car or spend a lot of money in today’s economy. I plan to drive this car for the next 2-3 years and probably will give it to my parents or my nephew, so I will like to keep it in a decent shape.

FYI, I bought the car 1 year used in 2002 and enjoyed the the last 8 years. During this time, I have done the following wear and tear/maintenance procedures.
1/Replaced all spark plugs
2/Replaced brakepads
3/Moded driver and passage power unit to fix battery drainage problem (thanks to this board )
4/Replaced MAF
5/Replaced suspension ball and sockets
6/Regular oil and filter change once a year

I am experiencing the following nagging problems that I can probably live with. But I appreciate any advices.
1/Rust at trunk
2/Wiper liquid reserver/container leaking
3/Passenger side speaker not working
4/remote key door lock/unlock intermittently doesn’t work

rust on trunk - take the car to a body shop and ask them for a quote.

windshield washer fluid tank leaking - You will have to open the plastic panels under and in front of the front wheel well and investigate where the fluid is leaking. If it's leaking from the washer pump grommet(s), then replace the grommet. Easy job. If the tank is cracked, you will have to replace the washer fluid reservoir. It can't be that expensive/difficult.

speaker not working - you will have to open the door panel and see if the speaker connection is bad or if the speaker died. Get few clips that hold the door panel; invariably, some of them will break when you open the panel.

Replace coolant every 2 years or 50K miles, later models have a special coolant that last
150K but not ours. Use Zerex G05. Super easy diy, drain and fill period.
Use distilled water 50/50 mix. 1 gallon of antifreeze is enough, total capacity is only about
5 quarts or something.

Brake fluid is supposed to be replaced every 2 years, period.
Better get on that one, an ESP pump is 3 grand to replace.
Brake fluid collects moisture over time and
that causes internal corrosion.
Any indy mechanic should be able to do a full flush on
all 4 wheels for 100 bucks or less.
Worth it to have them do it. Bleed all 4 wheels on jackstands is no fun.

Fuel filter is also a relatively easy DIY, though you have to pry off the one time use
clamps, and then put on screw on clamps.
Use some safety goggles so you don't get any gas in your eyes.
Filter is by the left rear axle. Every 60K miles, replace.

Dump the diff oil while you're at it.
You'll need an odd sized hex wrench, I forget the size,
was hard to find. drain and fill.

I don't believe there is a timing belt, I can't say for certain on the
6's but I believe it is a chain.
Not aware of any MB engines with timing belts.
Speaking of belts, inspect yours for cracks.
If you've never replaced them, now would be a good time
before one breaks.

Also, top up your battery with distilled water.

Replacing the speaker, also easy DIY.
Seach on removing the door panel,
its just a couple screws, unpop the panel from the door,
and pull up. Disconnect connectors from window switches,
R& R speaker. Reverse procedure.

Where's the checklists from the WIS and DVD?
I can't find them.
