Rear Wheel Ticking And Bell Like dong

Hey guys
I have an 01 c240 and the back right wheel seems to have started making a ticking noise. Its almost like have a baseball card in a bike wheel, but just a little bit quieter. It speeds up when I make a turn and the car leans toward that side. Its less noticiable at highway speeds, but upon approaching stop signs/lights. You can def notice it. Maybe a wheel bearing, or CV Joint? Can do the basics on cars but I wouldnt say Im a Tech by any means. A little input on that would be great.

The tickings coming from the right side. On the left side it makes 2 noises. When going over a pot hole, decent size bump or any other PA road for that matter it makes a noise like if I was to have a bolt with washers on it and a nut at the end. Imagine me shaking the bolt with the washers bouncing of the nut at the end. It makes a clanging noise when hitting bumps. Sounds like somethings loose. Now when I enter my drive way at a weird angle. The back suspension makes a bell dong like noise.

I used to have this problem on my mk4 jetta in the front left. It ended up being the spring spining when I would move the wheel. Now Im not sure what would be doing this for the back. This is why I came to you guys. I realize that I have super poor descriptions ,and its leading to bad grammar. In my defense its terribly hard to recreate the sounds through words on a forum.

If anyone has any questions about that please ask. I appreciate any help I can get from you.

Rick

This might sound funny, but it's worth a check. I have heard some strange noises coming out of the wheel's center cap on many cars. What happens is that the cap loosens from the mounting ring and will eventually fall off, but not before making all kinds of noises.

A few years ago, I witnessed a Porsche owner get suckered by a dealer to the tune of $1500. The dealer told him he needed new shocks and control arm bushings -- bull. A loose center cap was the only problem, but the dealer would not tell him that!!!

See if you can move your center cap by hand. If it rattles, chances are it's your noise gremlin. Good luck.

Have you use the spare tire, a spacer or aftermarket wheels recently? The wheel bolts are very specific to your car, if you use the spare, you must use spare bolts, or it will touch parts of your car like the parking brake and damage them and make noises.
