scratched window tint

Hey all, Thought I would share my solution to my scratched window tint problem. I live in Phoenix so window tint is a must. I had huber optik installed at the dealer only to discover that the rubber window seals left vertical scratches in the tint because the seals are just bare, textured rubber with none of the fuzzy surface treatment usually found on window seals. The dealer was like "tough luck." I had the tint replaced twice under warranty for the scratches. After the second time, I pulled off all of the door panels, removed the seals and used some spray-on adhesive to adhere felt to the seals. It only took a couple hours and now no more scratches.

This is well known on Benzes, you need to felt the seals inside the door as well as the ones at the top. Surprised the dealer did not know about it.

Yeah, the guys I used to tint my windows have never heard of molskin or using felt material on the window seals. They supposedly have been in the business for 20 years. My drivers side is starting to scratch. I guess I should have found a better company that new what moleskin was.......Live N Learn...

THANK GOD! I thought there was no solution for this problem, dealership told me, too bad, so I have had them redone twice now.

NM2010,

It's super easy to install. You just have to pop open the door panels. You don't need to remove them. It's like 3 screws or something.

Buy the kit here.
Tint Protector Mercedes Automotive Anti-Scratch Window Tint Kits Made With MoleSkin Felt

It has pictures with the instructions. Worth it hands down over having to re-tint after scratches.
