Mercedes service lights A... + oil change question

Hello All,

I am new to the "updated mercedes computer" I orginally had a 190e. So I need some help.

1) What does service A mean?

2) How much for a oil change "at the dealer" for a 2003 c230 coupe?

I know these are basic questions

You have a computer that samples your Oil and Quality.
It's time for your Scheduled "A" maintenance because of your Mileage.
Check your Owners Manual and you will see that the light came on when
you hit that magical mileage indicator.

You will experience NO LESS than several hundred dollars for an Oil Change change with phantom, pretend services.

You can let the Stealership do this and will feel completely violated afterwards.
If you DIY you will save BUNDLES on this very basic service and inspection.

If you DIY your own Oil Change cost is <$100.00 TOTAL

I'm guessing this may be in the owners manual but does anyone have a link to what all the "Service" messages that are displayed really mean ? Is the dealer the only one that can clear these from displaying, or can a shop with the right equipment clear them as well ?

Brand new owner of our first 'Benz so I'm new to all of this business of the car yelling at me. )

I can usually change my oil for less than 80 bucks...Just get the filter online, not from the Stealer. I get my mobile 1 from Walmart in a 5 quart jug for pretty cheap. Just do your shopping around you can save a bunch if you spend a little time. Just My 2cents.

I go to my independent shop for service... A is about 150 and B is about 250... about 1/2 what you pay at the dealer.
