Door Lock Stuck

A couple days ago my driver's door lock knob got stuck in the up position. It won't push down at all, even when I try to push it down. Has anyone ever had this problem before?

If it turns out that my locking mechanism is bad, is it hard to replace?

I have never done one on my Mercedes, but I have done one on my other car. It is a little tricky to do because of the lack of space, but if your a little handy you could probably fix it yourself.

Update. It tries to engage when locking or unlocking but seems like either a loose electrical connection or is bound on something. When it gets the signal to lock or unlock, it makes a "rapid-fire" kinda sound (the sound of the door lock working but rapidly repeated about 6-7 times) and sometimes the lock engages.

Due to bad weather (TS Fay) and lack of time, I haven't had a chance to open it up. Kinda scared I might damage the door panel and trim.

The door panel is extemely easy to take off. I had to remove mine to put on a new interior door handle. This will give you step by step instructions on how to remove your door panel. InstallUniversity.com: Mercedes Benz C Class W203
