I am looking to get new Rear tires on my C230 I currently have Sumitomo HTR Z II 235/35ZR19's on 19" Foose Lusso 8.5 wide Rims with 10mm spacers. Im not sure the offset of the rim but they clear the calipers and are still in the fender wells somewhere close to 35m offset I am guessing. The Sumitomo's are separating from the tread on the inside of both tires so time for new. I have been looking at Nexen N3000 series tires as replacements because of longer treadware, comparable performance, quiet ride, and lower cost.
Currently my Sumitomo's are 235/35ZR19's all around and look to be stretched on the rim to be wide enough. The rubber flare on the side wall that is supposed to protect the rim is not even able to do its job. The front tires till have quite a bit of tread for now but when it comes to replacing the rears I was thinking about going with 265/30ZR19's that would work out to be a almost same diameter tire that is wider. Are any of you running a 265/30ZR19 in the rear and if so how are they working out for you.
I bought the car with the tires it has on it now so that is why I am doing my research before changing size.
Thanks for all your help, and just so you know I did do a search and found some info about different tire sizes but it just was not enough to help.
I went out and looked at my wheels, i took some measurements im almost positive that they are 9.5 wide front and back not 8.5 so what tire size do you recommend now??
Here are some images of my wheels so that you can see what im talking about with them looking not wide enough for the wheel. They look this way on both the front and the back. im guessing all the wheels are 9.5 wide and the tires a know are all 235/35RZ19's -- So what do you think a good fit for the rear would be??
take the wheels off and look on the back of the spokes for actual rim width. 19" tire size for w203 typical 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 or 255/30/19 for those that are afraid of a little rubbing.
your front wheel looks more like you have ET20-25 on 8.5 or ET35 on a 9.5. wheel sticking out pass the fender ain't good.
I went out with a tape measure and measured across the wheels and came up with 9.5 all around. I have 10mm spacers all around also. This makes the front a little wide but if i would have went with 5mm on the front i didn't think it would clear the calipers. When I bought the car it had 8mm non-hubcentric spacers which i replaced with the correct hubcentric ones. How much offset is too much? I guess I don't have the standard setup on here as all my wheels are 9.5 wide but my question is should I check and try to get my 10mm spacers milled down to like 8mm or so at a machine shop to try to make the track of the vehicle more aligned.
These are the only full pics a have of it so far, I took them with my camera phone when i got it. I have been meaning to get some good ones of it, but every time i get it good and cleaned up and ready for a photo shoot i have something else i have to get to.
