Have been getting the BAS and ESP and other brake lights messages lately on and off and last night the car would not shift out of park. Sitting in front of brother-in-law's house as I can't even seam to find a shift lock bypass on the console..
I've done a search and found a brake light switch as a possible culprit... My problem is the brake lights all work and how do I shift into drive to take it to mechanic?
Need help folks... Any way that I can override the shift lock on this c class? My clk can be done with a pen, really wanted to avoid having a tow truck pick it up.
Just ahead of the cupholders is a coin holder. Remove the holder and you should be able to use a screwdriver to press the lock. If you still need help let me know. I will print the info word-for-word from the manual.
Here's the link to the manual on mbusa's website (you can register under owner's online and have access to these resources). Check page 338, it gives you a nice picture of what to do. All hope is not lost.
