POS Arm Rest

The condition of center arm rest on my 2004 c240 has been on the decline for the last 6 months. The left/right opening mechanism has been reset according to very competently organized directions found in this forum on several occasions. The last trip to the dealer for a service I requested a warrantee repair. This resulted in a no cost modification that restricts the opening to only the one side. Warranty was denied by the Mercedes regional service manager due to excessive wear from misuse and evidence of broken plastic pieces. Most recently the armrest can no longer be properly closed from either side and the reset instructions no longer produce the desired effect. I am now confronted with replacing or repairing the armrest properly. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Can the armrest be ordered in the original color? What are the alternatives and at what cost?

The later posts in this topic show the guts, workings, re-attachment and repair of this mechanism.

I'm sure you could purchase another armrest in the same color. I've actually seen aftermarket wooden ones which are really nice if you have a wood kit in your car. That is the road i'd take if i'd needed to replace my armrest.
