Parking sensor pushed in.

Just got a used C270 (2003 saloon), and the parktronic system is not working.
First thing I did was to go round and wipe all the sensors, I must have wiped too hard because one of the front sensors moved back about half inch.

Anyone know how to get this back. Looks like the panel/strip its in just pulls off, but dont want to pull too hard and break anything.

What strip - a front corner or the rear middle?

Also - We were not allowed to get Parktronic in the States...some of us have it fitted with OEM parts - and some of us are runnig aftermarket parts...

Hope to help,
Jake

Not sure I can help but anyone with Parktronic could you please provide information on where you purchased it and how hard it is to install. This is a mod I've been thinking about doing. Would it show up on the Navi (like the BMW) or just beep inside the car.

Thanks!

Thanks Jake,

Its the front nearside corner strip.
The parktronic is factory fitted, but I think theres a problem because its completely dead, no lights on the dash & no beeps.
I have checked the fuse (5 amp fuse No.13 in the boot) but no luck there.

Kev

My system is aftermarket - the factory one I am guessing is around a 2,000 modification. I have been able to do my whole thing for...450...

The factory system would not be keyed into the MSCII screen - it would have new light unit display (in rear) and a new dash grille display (front) the unit (this is from memory) would be on always in reverse, and forward up to about 15mph then shut off. It utilizes the cars CAN BUS system and is a pretty involved and advanced system with audio and visual warning. My system is not as advanced - but I look at it like this - it is a tool to help with parking and in the worst case - hitting a child or person walking. My system has a front visual display and a rear audio warning tone that starts a slow beep at 6 feet away then grows faster until it is a constant tone at 1 foot.

I do not have any help on the Factory parktronic System? You would need to look at the loop to insure that Parktronic is active.

Good luck!
Jake

(Picts of the factory stuff...)

Thanks Jake,

Ive got the original receipt for the car, and the partronic was an option that was purchased with the car for 550 UK Pounds. (would be nice if it worked ) :-)

Im gonna take a longer look at the system this weekend, and try and work out whats wrong..

See on the first set of photos (factory fitted stuff), where is the control box (4th picture) located ? Im going to check the connections there.

And in the pictures of your setup, how does the stip come off (PICS 4 and 5)? is it just a question of feeling for the clips and gently pulling it out, or is there a more controlled method ?
Cheers
Kev

Yeah I wish we could get it here - not even an option...we don't even get close to the same color options...I wanted a block heater too - NOPE - no option....Canada can get it - that is 25 minutes away from me!

Anyway...Here you go...That control unit is in the Passenger side (US / Left ahnd drive) car foot well, on the vertical wall / bulkhead / fire wall...

(This is what my Dad and I figured out in the drive way one day…)

1. TAPE off all the surrounds on the upper and lower rail to protect the finish.
2. Use two small / thin mechanics scales / or thin plastic tools / wedges to get in-between the impact strip and the fascia – you are looking for the THREE molded in snaps – release them by riding your tool over the top / bottom of the respective snap.
3. Start releasing the snaps on the INBOARD side first walking the strip out to the corner.
4. The corner has an upper and lower HOOK that you must roll out of its catch.
5. Remove impact strip to do what ever!

The rear strips - you start on the outer quarter panels (there is a SCREW in the tire / wheel well - remove it) then remove the outer strips, than you can remove the rear strip with PTS.

Good luck!
Jake

Hope this helps!
Jake
