ok I got the problem resolved I went to the gaz up and found the cap loose and when I started again it was fine so when you go to a service station make sure they put the gaz cap back on tight.
Did having the gas cap loose set off CEL? I remember hearing that on some of the models it does. I forgot to put the cap back on once though, and no CEL. I was going to say it could have been your fuel sending unit when I first read this. Glad you got it figured out. I didn't know loose cap would kill the fuel guage reading.
