When backing out and turning the wheel slightly, the brakes seem to engage on their own. The same thing happens when I turn right/left from a complete stop. It's almost as if the car is fighting me. I'm starting to wonder if this is happening when I'm up to normal speed because my gas mileage is horrible. The engine hangs on shifting, etc.
The turns are under normal driving conditions. I'm not driving in a manner that would make the computer compensate for over steer, etc.
Well, I took the car in for its service A at 33,000 miles. It turns out it was the transfer case. Apparently, every other problem the car had was related to that also since it was purchased (new w/5 miles on the OD)
It was done under warranty. I had complained about "under performance" every time I brought the car in for its services. Whether it was Service A, B, for a recall and a faulty oil sensor.
I have the same make/mileage so I had a benchmark to compare the vehicles. I guess it got to a point to where the tech could finally hear something.
The invoice did not mention a price as it was all warranty work. I could only assume the base price is somewhere around 1800 to 2000 for the part. They had to drill out the bolts and replace several parts that attach to the transfer case.
I'll post up exactly what they did when I get home and find the paperwork.
