first of i got the internals of my key wet. so i dryed it off and it worked fine for about a week. i oark and run into a store come back out and the car will not start and the ignition will not turn? is my key trashed or is it something else?
Start by buying new batteries for the key.
Or swap them from a key that works.
Instructions are in the owners manual.
As far as the SRS error, how old is the car battery?
Erroneous errors can be caused by soon to die car battery.
Have it tested at an auto parts shop or elsewhere.
That would have to be cleared with SDS.

It may be that it is simply wet or you may need a new key or a new battery for the key.
I had a problem on my 2000 E320 when the original key would not start the car. I got it cranked and it acted like it was going to start but then it died. It was not a car battery problem because none of the electrical devices had any issues.
After trying to start it with that key about ten times, I tried a new key that I had the dealership make for me about a year ago. It started the car on the first try.
So .... in my case it appeared to have been a key that was worn out - needs a new key battery or something. Maybe you have the same problem.
SRS is the airbag system. Generically, it can be the clock spring in the steering wheel. Until it is scanned, it can be anything, though.
I dropped my cellphone in some water a while back. The salesman told me that water damage is like cancer, although it is fine now, it can die at any time, without notice, which is what happened. Looks like this is what happened to your key.
I had the problem again today. Turns out it is not a bad key. It is the crank sensor. If it goes bad the car won't start because the crank sensor recognizes the key, etc. and tells the car's systems to start up.
