1. How often do I need to replace the air filter and cabint filter?
2. For the cabin filter - do I need activated charcoal filter?
3. Directions on how to replace them both.
4. sunroof is making some rattling noise when I open it all the way on the road - any ideas on what might be the problem?
Thanks guys.

I change out my Cabin Air Filter every 1.5 years to 2.0 years.
Every few months, while I got a hair up my &*^%#, I Pull out the Cabin Air Filter, and Air Filter and use a Shop Vacuum and Vacuum it out.
Then I use compressed Air and blow it out. CAREFULLY.
I spray the Cabin Filter with some Lysol Spray to kill the cooties!
Yeah yeah yeah, I know, Cooties, what else to call the critters eh?
Anyway; it works out real nice like that.
Yes Charcoal Air Filter.
My Cabin Air Filter is different than yours but here is the gyst of it.
Located in the Passenger Foot Well, directly underneath the Glove Box.
*Unscrew the black panel.
*The CAF is dead center once you drop and remove the black panel.
*slide back two white plastic brakets.
*disconnect the connector plug
*lay connector plug to the side
*grab the CAF, the Black Plastic thingy with a Center Foam Strip and try and
maneuver it down and out.
Again, down, and out.
**** NOTE: The Direction, the Orientation its coming from. *****
I'll say it again, because once you do it, you'll say, how the heck does it go back in.
Going back in, is much more difficult than removal.
*take Sharpie Marker and write on the CAF the Mileage
*Use some disinfectant pop up wipes or a cloth with Clorox and wipe everything down. The Black panel, the Air Filter Housing area.....everything.
*Reinstall the Connector plug you unplugged earlier.....remember?
*Push back to lock in place the white plastic tabs
*reinstall black plastic kick plate
*Update your Maintenance Log Book with Date and Mileage
I have a 2000 C230 Kompressor. This may or may not apply to you.
