Plays MP3s ???? - Benzworld.org

Gents,

Does my 2005 C230 plays MP3s ??
I have tried couple of CDs (memorex, jvc) and my CD player for some reason will not play mp3s. I've tried it in single CD player and the multiple CD player.
It's kind of a shame that this beauty didn't come with mp3 player.

I would appreciate any feedback.

I have not gotten my 2007 C230 Single Slot CD player to accept MP3's.. Really sucks when a friken Rental Ford comes with an MP3 player..

I think the standard head unit is a damn disgrace. Mercedes is supposed to have the latest technology and their radios are a decade behind everyone else.

No RDS
No MP3 support in the HUs built in CD player
No text support for song names - EVEN THOUGH the screen supports it!! What a damn waste.

Could not agree more... and what REALLY Pisses me off is that the Radio is so customized to the dash astetics that it is impossible to put an Aftermarket HU in there without major surgery..

That's definately true. Mercedes is supposed to be a top of the line car.
The toyota scion comes with an mp3 cd player and the ipod integration kit standard and that's an $18k car fully loaded.
while mercedes on the other hand can't even get an mp3 cd player as standard equipment go figure.

I couldn't agree more with you all.. It's really a shame. Makes me sick to think that 2007 Ford Focus comes with MP3 player and iPod integration kit MSRP $14,456.
Mercedes are supposed to be the ultimate driving machines (sounds like the BMW commercial), but it's true, they're considered high end cars.

Have any of you installed an I-pod interation kit on your Mercedes? Id like to do that instead of going through an FM frequency like the ones you can buy in the stores.

I got it installed on mine, it's the best, but just make sure you download your song's with the highest bit rate possible if not they will sound pretty low

other than that it is a pretty cool upgrade.
