Just curious. I've been replacing my cabin dust filter and my air filters as a DIY job to save $$ @ the dealer when in for service. I've purchased replacement Mann air filters and Corteco dust filter twice now.
How often do you all change air filters?
How often do you all change the cabin dust filter?
I've just been changing the dust filter every 10K since it seems dirty and the air filter every 12K.

A "dirty" filter filters better than a new, clean filter will. Do you seem to sense better airflow after your replacements? Do you regularly tow a disc harrow in a dustbowl?
Otherwise, your 10k/12k sounds pretty reasonable.

Thanks!
Your spot on! That's my schedule as well.
However, one extra twist I do.
I Shop Vacuum or HEPA Vacuum Clean my Air Filter and Cabin Filter every so
often, 3-4,000 miles or so. Nothing written in stone. Then I spray the Cabin
Filter with some Lysol Spray just to kill the "cooties" in there.
It does seem to help and I'm amazed at all the critters trapped and
sand and general "stuff" in the A/F Housing and Cabin Filter.

Here is what my air box looked like one fall day...
I too tear it open and change it / clean it more than "normal"...
Jake
Jake; WTF? WOW.......it looks like a Leaf Pile.
But seriously. That's just the way the wind blows eh?
I am ALWAYS surprised about the stuff that is in the A/F Box and even more
aghast when I change out the Cabin Filter.
Both are always NASTY.
Last night I vacuumed out my Car Interior.
Popped the Hood, pulled the A/F , HEPA Vacuum'd it and the Air Box.
I had to get rid of the Wasps, Sand, Chunky debris etc.

Yeah...I was really MAD...then I started looking for a sign of an animal thinking a mouse or a chipmunk was trying to make a home...no seeds, nuts, droppings or claw marks anywhere! So I cleaned it to the best of my ability...it was rough - On the left side (Driver seat) - (Right side looking at it) there is a large opening in the bottom corner near the ECU...Little leafs and stuff had found there way into that crack and it was hard to get them out...I clean the drains real well too - more than I think most people would...
This is what it looks like after a good cleaning...Poor M271
