I've currently got my c180 (2001) in at the workshop getting repaired due to some electrical issues (power comes on then off every 30 seconds).
Anyway I was just wondering if I should ask them to have a look at my air conditioner also. When I've been driving for a period of 30 minutes or more with the air conditioner on I hear a clicking sound when I'm accelerating. The sounds appears if it's coming from the center console. By this time the center console feels like a fridge, so the first few times this occurred i figured it was just the air conditioner doing it's thing. Should i be concerned? Might i add it's really annoying when you dont have music playing.
There's a lot of valves in the dash that control the A/C. What happens, and this happens on any car, is the valve is trying to open or close and the valve is damaged, could be a stripped gear, not exactly sure on an MB but it's typical. Find the bad valve and replace.

Generally is this expensive? Since my car is in getting fixed under a warranty claim I might as well ask?
EDIT: Just in case for some reason they wouldn't want to fix it under warranty could it cause any further damage? I tend to be lazy when it comes to taking my car in to get things fixed lol.
It's not dangerous other than your heating/ac won't work properly and it's more of a comfort thing. If you can get it fixed under warranty might as well do it, enjoy the loaner. As for expense, it's not the actuator motors as they are called that's expensive (about $100 each), it's the labor to get to it, some are easier to get to than others. If you want more details I have them on my website but here's a link - http://www.buellwinkle.com/W203HVAC.pdf
Instructions for Replacement of Right Footwell Flap Stepper Motor (M2/11)
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of a ticking noise coming from the area of the instrument panel the cause could be a damaged stepper motor lever arm. The noise may be created by the hex shaped drive shaft of the motor turning in the fractured lever. Updated lever arms are available and it is not necessary to replace the footwell stepper motor.
1. Remove stepper motor for right footwell flap, refer to WIS document AR83.10-P-2007P.
2. Remove and inspect lever arm.
3. If damaged, replace with new updated lever (Figure 1) available separately in kit A203 830 00 33 64.
NOTE: During the installation of the lever do not turn the actuator motor to the correct position by hand, as this could damage the unit. Synchronization will provide the correct adjustment.
Says it's a two hour job, the plastic piece (stepper arm) is cheap.
