Hood Open Warning - Except it isn't - Benzworld.org

Hi there -
This warning light just started coming on, even though the hood is not open. I have opened and closed the hood several times, and tried to reset the warning messages.
Any advice on how to address this without a trip to the dealer?

Look at the switch, make sure it's not bent out of the way and is being fully-released by the hood when it closes.

By hood I am assuming you mean the rear hatch?

No, we'd mean the bonnet.

Mystery solved. Facing the bonnet, there are left and right hood latches. The closed hood switch is on the left below the latch. It was being held in place by a plastic cage with snap-lock fasteners, and it had come loose and the whole assembly was hanging down out of view. I'm surprised it hadn't come loose sooner.
