2004 C240 RF Keyless Failure

I am having a problem with the RF portion of my keyless on my 2004 C240. The IR side works fine, but the RF side is completely dead. Here is the history.

Once the RF quite working on one remote (about 1.5 years ago), I figured it was due to low battery and switched to using the second remote as it worked fine. Once the second remote quite working on the RF side, I noticed the IR was still working (fully functional, lock/unlock/trunk/windows and sunroof open and close). My first step was to replace the batteries, but this did not fix the problem. I then took it in for service as it is still under warranty. The dealer attempted to fix the problem and said they replaced the antenna receiver at the above the back glass (possibly called a com bar?). However, this did not fix the problem. As such, the dealer blamed it on the metalized tint that was on the car. I bought into this theory since my AM reception had diminished since tinting the vehicle. Next, I took the vehicle back to the tint shop and had them remove the tent (they use a technique that does not involve a razor blade and does not damage the traces in the rear glass). Surprise, the RF side of the keyless STILL DID NOT WORK. The car was then re-tinted with a high quality film that does not contain any conductive metal (Llumar ATX). The AM reception is pristine again, but of course the RF still does not work, so the car is back at the dealer as I write this post, but they seem to be clueless on the issue. I have told them I do not want the car back until it is fixed so figure it out. I am amazed that their service agents/technicians do not understand the vehicles they are working on.

Anyone have the same problem or have any ideas what the problem might be? I have seen only a few problems similar in the forum, but the one fix that seemed to help has already been performed on my C240 to no avail.

Are you saying that locking and unlocking with the remote work fine? Or are you using the keyless entry button to lock and unlock?

You're not making sense.

Please clarify.
