Shifter gate trim loose

Recently, my shifter gate trim has come loose from the console; it's just flipping and flopping around. The shifter boot is still attached to the plastim trim, but the whole trim dislodged itself from the console. It looks like one of the clips have snapped (no idea how), so that it can't get locked down.

Has anyone encountered this problem and fixed it without replacing the part?
