Side markers + Smoked tail lights

1. So i've been thinking about getting clear corners for my black C230. I don't know which would look better. Smoke (like the ones in the link) or clear ones. eBay Motors: 01~07 MERCEDES W203 SMOKE SIDE MARKER C230 C240 C320 (item 310037243795 end time Apr-07-08 18:24:36 PDT)

2. I also have been thinking about getting the smoke tail light overlays. eBay Motors: Mercedes C230 C240 Taillight Smoke Smoked Overlay 01-07 (item 280213913986 end time Apr-07-08 08:59:17 PDT)

What would look better on a black car, clear or smoke corners? Would the tail light overlays look good or be too much? Anyone with a black car that has pics of the overlays on?

smoked corner if you intend to keep the function. European impact strip if you don't want it to light up at all.

i would watch out for the ebay. The pictures he used for the tali light does not belong to him. That is one of the forum member's car on mbworld which he had the shop professionally smoked the tail light. It wasn't film.

I agree with what both FrankW and Eesjunin said…

I have been trying to locate Euro Impact Strips for a while…and to no availability yet…

I smoked out a set of mirror turn signals, front side markers and tail lights when I first got my car. Now they make the smoked side markers, I would pick those up for your car.

Mercedes-Benz automobiles (along with most/all European cars) are not originally designed for the DOT side marker lights – Just look how bad the new S and C class look!

I would try to fake your car like I am trying to fake my car – with tinted black front side markers and an orange bulb inside.

I tinted my tail lights to…the real way – and I say that because a lot of people put down spray jobs…I will agree that it is not a project you can do with over the counter supplies…like testors model tint, krylon clear coat or any other $3.99 item you find…I have two uncles in the collision business and a very close family friend that build Hot Rods and I received a BFA in industrial design. You have to treat a tint job on any clear plastic poly carbonate part like you would a fender, hood or door.

I use holly wood tints, pro tints, dupont tints and work with the dupont chromaclear system as my base and top coat. I spray it all with SATA guns and bake everything in a hot box…

Good luck,
Jake

Sorry to everyone that has seen these images a million times, maybe this summer I will get ne material! Also I can show what the front looks like with the black grille...

Thanks for the tips. I guess all of you have talked me into professionally smoking my tail lights. Jake, yours look really good! If you don't mind me asking. Did you put your head lights in yourself and where did you get them at? I think I need to get a set myself. As far as the smoked markers off ebay. You think they would be ok?
