Hi I am new here to the forum and I apologize if someone asked the question before. I searched and looked all over the place and I didn't find the same problem, so please bear with me
I have a 02 c230 Komp coupe with less than 60k miles on it, and I had a B-service last Feb with flushing transmission fluid. I seemed to have a repeating tickling noise problem either from the engine or the transmission (I couldn't tell). The frequency of the repeating tickling goes up when speeding up. Also it pops out randomly, sometimes in half an hour after I start the car or over an hour. I do know that when I stop more frequently or changing from D to R/P more often, the problem comes out sooner. The noise seems to come from under the shift stick, but sometimes I feel it comes from behind the AC. Please help and any information is appreciated!
Thanks!
Common problem. It is the insulation that surrounds your driveshaft. As it heats up, it exands (which is why you hear it after driving for a while). You can trim the insulation yourself or take it to your dealer and have them add a support 'cage' that holds up the insulation. I think it cost me $150 to do it.
Annoying as hell but nothing to worry about in terms of mechanical problems...
