Last night my fuel guage read 1/2 tank after starting the vehicle. I had just drove a few minutes ago, and filled the tank a couple days back. The fuel tank was almost full. After about twenty seconds the guage jumped back up to the correct level rapidly. What could be the cause of this?

I have a ML320 and it seems the fuel indicator is going bonkers. I can fill up and the gauge will show that I'm almost empty. Or.... I will fill up and it will show that the ML is half full and then the next day it will finally show that the car is full of gas. Does anyone have any ideas on what it going on? Please reply. Red ML
