I have a 2003 230k stock cause Im poor. anyway i was messin around with my friend who dirves a 04 mazda 3 also stock. Even the tiny 1.8 has a 40 horsepower advantage over the 3. But my friend was able to almost pull on me....wtf is goin on? Im pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the car...
Sorry to hear about your financial condition, things will get better someday. As for the Mazda3, 0-60 on that car is about 7.8 seconds and it's 7.5 on the C230, so what's the problem? It's close enough that simple stuff like your weight vs. his, crap in trunk, passenger, auto vs. manual trans can make one win over the other. The reason his car is faster per HP is because it's a lighter car by 500 lbs.

At the time I posted I didnt think that it was the 500 pound difference that made it...But according to you and others 500 pounds is pretty significant. Why is the coupe so heavy? The 3 is a 4 door sedan...I would think that the coupe should be lighter....
yeah, definitely dump as much weight as possible, if you want better acceleration...also, turn off the esp, get a manual transmission (espcially on the kompressor). c230's w/the automatics seem to have a slight lag off acceleration when compared to the manual. personally, if you really want to smoke the 3, i would just let all the air out of his tires before racing him. believe me, it works. ;-)
