Just got a new 2007 C230 sports sedan, black on black, pretty gaaangstaaa. Anyway just got back home from the dealership and one thing kind of annoys me, its the seat belt indicator light, that keeps flashing and beeping at you when you dont wear your seats belt. Is there a way to turn it off?

Nice to have a reminder to buckle up.
All safety features in your car work in conjunction with the seatbelt worn by the operator and all passengers.
All cars have it and so they should. (even the not so "chep azn"? cars) as you put it.

The beep and flash are a freebee mandated by your neighborhood product liability lawyer. You are probably not old enough to remember when the starter interlock was wired to the seatbelt. Back then most drivers intent on becoming veggies just left the belt fastened, and sat on it.
I'll bet you also know people who ride in the passenger seat with the seat back and their feet on the dashboard too. If the airbag works they don't have to worry about ever having children if they survive.

If it says Pratt and Whitney on the outside it better say Martin Baker on the inside.

I second that - I had a little trouble about that one with my girlfriend...every time I saw a person with their feet on the dash, or out the side window I would make a comment under my breath...she thought it was me complaining that they were disrespecting the car - and it's part that...but when I explained that in an accident that air bag has to go some where and the legs and lower body are going to be folded like a paper bag - she understood...
I won't even let passengers hold heavy, blunt, whatever objects with them incase we get in a wreck...
