Considering a 2003 c230 Kompressor coupe, one has 49k miles another with 65k.
Any pitfalls or specific issues I should look for?

These are great cars to learn auto repair. Get the one with 65K miles, you'll learn that much sooner. The 2002 is nice because you can add a pulley kit for a good boost in power. Can't do that with a 2003+.

Any real help out there? Are there common issues with these vehicles to be aware of? Expecting a reliable and fun source of transportation.

I bought my daughter one last summer, 03 230k with 36k miles. No issues to date at +43k miles, but I did buy an extended bumper to bumper warrenty just in case.
