02 C240 Gas Gage is broken?

I have a 02 C240 Sedan and my fuel gage will not move from the empty position. I am guessing it is the fuel sending unit. ANy ideas? If it is that how difficult is it to fix? Only 43,000 miles on it and I just changes my left & right Swaybar links and bushings now I have to replace my rear bushings.

The warranty should be up to 50,000 miles so let the stealership fix it.

It could be the gauge itself. I would have it diagnosed at shop.

i've had the same problem i have a 2002 c230. it only does it every once in a while, so when it happens i continue to make frequent stop to the gas station to keep my gas tank full(since i cant tell how much i have).

most likely his warranty is out. actually i'll bet 100% his warranty is out.

there's a fuel position sensor some sort. ask the dealership about it. some will be unlucky with a bad unit that does not always work properly. my sister had that thing changed for her 2000 CLK320.

Failed fuel tank senders are a fact of Mercedes life. If you have folding seats, lift up the rear seat bottoms and then the carpet. One on each side for each tank.

Otherwise, remove the rear seat cushion to see them. It takes a special wrench to remove them. If you knew which one it was. When installing one, tightening too much will cause a fuel leak. Inside the car, not a good idea.
