Ok forget my past post, that was lame I forgot this was about a cheaper alternative than $300....
but if anyone is still looking for this answer...here you go....
My local MB dealership has that part number, but no 64 at the end....it's the same part however...and it lists for C230k 2001-2007. The parts guy on Saturday could not confirm however how it hooks up....he had a picture that shows it going directly to the COMMAND, but if I'm not mistaken that wasn't offered in a C230 till mid '04...so I'm thinkin without the COMMAND maybe it uses the WeatherBand channel or it replaces our CD changer....we'll see Tuesday when their electrical/phone tech is in.
Awesome I have a command! I'll have to go to the dealership this weekend and figure out exactly what I'll need. It might replace the cd changer. That is something I'd rather not choose to do. Hopefully I can plug it directly into the command.
I'd really be interested to see if you can get this to work. My understanding is that the older, non-command HU in the pre-facelifted C series, with d2b fiber, do not have the option of using the wired aux input -
yeah it does i checked my car and its wired exactly the same way and your car's only difference mine is the engine and your car is a bit older
Hmmmm - the fact that 2003 c's use a D2B fiber bus, and your 2006 uses MOST makes me suspect that it's significantly different both in wiring and in the HU electronics...
As far as I'm aware, the non comand D2B HU's do not have the option to use a wired aux port. I would love for someone to figure a way to do this that does not involve sending the HU to becker for a retrofit...
This link was EXTREMELY helpful as I was pulling my hair out. Just so everyone knows...I just bought a 2007 C230 Sport, I took apart my passenger door sill (as shown in the pics) and found the white plug. I was able to order the cable (Part # A 210 440 50 05 64) from our local dealership in Arlington, VA and it plugged right in and works perfectly. My ipod sounds better then CDs!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
So, the short of it is, that this does work for 2007 C230s with no CDC installed.
Supplies needed:
Part # A 210 440 50 05 64
Allen wrench (unsure of size used)
Small flat head screwdriver
Razor knife
Installation Time:
30 minutes
Difficulty:
Easy
This is a great alternative to the IPOD Integration kit available from Mercedes for $300+. Although this does not allow you to control your Ipod with the steering wheel controls, it does give you more options! The Aux. Input will allow you to connect any audio device with a 2.5 mm jack, so if you use another brand of MP3 player, you’re all set. This as also MUCH cheaper than the integration kit, I picked this part of from Mercedes-Benz of Orlando for $47 + tax. The dealer told me that this part will also work with several other models.
This is in NO WAY instructions from Mercedes Benz, The steps listed here are what worked for me, if you decide to try it, and mess something up, it’s not my fault!
All Steps are done on the passenger side of the car.
Step 1:
Remove the side trim from glove box. This trim snaps off.
Step 2:
Remove lower door trim, this trim snaps off, once the front 3 snaps have been removed, it is not necessary to remove any more. You don’t need to completely remove the trim!
Step 3:
Using the small flat head screwdriver, remove the bolt covering from the side trim. Then remove the bolt using the Allen wrench.
After removing the bolt, the trim is healed by snaps, it was a little tough to get off.
Step 4:
Once all the trim has been removed, you will see a track that contains all of the wires, this track snaps together at the top; simply unsnap it to expose all of the wires.
Step 5:
Near the front of the track (towards the front of the car) you will see the white harness plug. Just plug in your new part!
Step 6:
Once this is done redirect your attention to the side of the glove box, you will see a small round black plug that needs to be removed. Using your razor knife carefully cut it out of place. This is where you will position the jack for you new part.
Step 7:
Once you have plugged the jack into the hole, simply hide the rest of the wire in the track near the floor. Reassemble (in the reverse order that you unassembled) and you’re done!
Hold down the CDC button to activate Aux. input.
Hope this is helpful!!

Over the weekend I was looking at 2006 & 2007 C280 4matics and none of them had a plug in the glove box? You show in the instructions (step 6) that we had to remove the black plug?? None of the 2006 & 2007 had any plug in the glove box? Before I purchase a 2006 or 2007 will this work on the 2006 or 2007?
Anyone know a place to get the cable for cheap other than the dealership? I checked online but couldn't find any. Maybe I'm not looking at the right place. Thanks!
