I just bought a new C230 the other day, and I wanted the iPod integration kit. When I asked the dealer about it, he told me that since it wasn't factory installed, I would have to purchase the navigation system to get the iPod feature. I figured that to be total BS. Shouldn't I be able to get it installed without the navi?
I have an '01 E-430 with the stock 6-disc CD changer. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to buy another changer that can read wav, flac, or mp3s off DVD-Rs?
Will the AUX install work on a 2006 C230? Or is there already an AUX jack someplace?
Worked fine on my 2006 C350 4Matic. My understanding is that almost no-one has this device installed from the factory. If you do, there will be a stereo miniplug jack on the right inner-side of the glove compartment. Nonetheless it is a relatively simple install.
I got a quick question. I dont think i have seen any post about the 07's. Im waiting for mine to get shipped here. Will that part fit, and also does it have that white clip to plug in to? Thanks guys!!
I was asked to post pics of my Brix Sirius radio install. Note where the antenna in mounted - in the right corner of the dash (hidden beneath Mr. Daimler's signature). Had to fight with the installer at Best Buy who seemed convinced that the antenna be mounted on the roof. Despite his reservations, I've never had a problem getting a signal (well, except for maybe under bridges and in parking garages - but that's true for any satellite radio). As you can see, the Brix Streamer GTR matches the interior of the mercedes perfectly (even the dirt matches - haven't had a chance to clean it in a while, sorry)
Hi thanks for the pics. Had a question, did you hook up the brix with the aux input or via FM modulation? If you did via aux input (better sound Im assumming), where is the aux input? I have C55 AMG and my navi states I have an available aux input but dont know where the input is
Thanks again

I used the Aux input connector which is referred to at the beginning of this thread. In the photos you can see that the stereo is set to Aux input and I even took a picture of the miniplug connected into the Aux input plug in the glovebox. If you go back to the first page, you'll find details on where to buy the connector and how to install it. You don't have to use it, and honestly I didn't notice any difference in sound quality between using the connector or using the FM modulator. I chose to use the connector only because I didn't like the static I got when I turned off the car and the Brix unit turned off but the stereo stayed on. Also in Cleveland, where I live, just about every station has some type of signal on it so occasionally I would get cross intereference from local radio stations while listening to my sirius radio.
I’m the proud owner of a new C230 and this is my first post and need help.
I followed all the Internet instruction to install the aux input plug in the glove box.
But when I opened the track that contains all of the wires, I didn’t find the white harness plug. I even looked behind the metal footrest.
Could it be somewhere behind the glove box? Is the aux input harness an extra option?
Please help.
I went to the dealership and the tech guy told me that my car is a W203/52 and that I didn't have the plug. That they could say why the aux shows as active on my readio, but that he is sure I don't have the plug.
They want to cherge two hours time to connect the aux input cable directly into the radio.
Is there any other place in my car where i could find the infamous white plug other then the front passenger railing?
My car is an '05 C240.
Great tutorial on the installation of the Aux input! It gave me the confidence to do it myself and it went in flawlessly. Paid $27 in the Seattle area. BTW, I also have the OEM 6 CD changer and it all works great together. The only issue I had was that the ipod had to be in the glovebox so I added an 'extension cord' that ends up in the ashtray area. Now I can control it while I am driving and hide it when I leave the car by closing the ashtray door. Here's what to do:
Parts needed:
- 1/8" stereo phone jack connector (Radio Shack # 274-246) for around $4.00.
- 1/8" or 5/32" stereo phone jack extension cord, male and female end. (angled male end works best)
- Remove chrome ashtray and store it in the spare tire well (the only place I allow smoking in my car!!)
- Drill a 15/64" hole in the back of the ashtray housing.
- Attach connector to the ashtray housing. The part of the connector that sticks into the ashtray well protrudes very little so you can still put the chrome ashtray in the ashtray well if you want, however you will not be able to access the connector if you do.
- Run the extension cord from the glovebox to the inside of the ashtray area. This was the tricky part. It's too hard to explain in words but it can be done without having to remove anything else from the car. It took me a good hour to figure out a path but now that I know I could do it in 5 minutes.
- Cut off female end of the extension cord and strip the ends of the wires. The cord I used had a red, white and bare wire. The white (left channel) wire connects to post #5 and the red (right channel) wire connects to post #2. The bare wire goes to the ground post. See the back of the connector package for post locations. The connections must be soldered.
- Test the connector by plugging in your MP3 player in the new connector and the other end of the wire in your glovebox.
That's it!
