i opened my moonroof today
while driving no problem at all.
when i was home i tried closing it
and it made some wierd noise and didnt wanted to
close, sounded like the motor was stuck or something. sounds like (krrrrrr)
well i gave it a lil of a push so it at least closes.
and also the black cover doesnt close anymore. it makes same noise... sounds like its stuck but im not sure.. when i open the roof it doesnt make any noises at all....
someone help?!?!?
When i had a similar problem with my roof, i manualy, with the supplied hex wrench, fully opened and closed my moonroof. I then synchronized the window and it fixed the problem, I think it might have just been of track a bit.
Hope this will help some........ T.
I have a similar problem. When I close my moonroof, it makes a clicking noise. I've tried lubing the tracks, no joy. So now I don't even open my moonroof. I know that if I take it to the stealer, that they'll bend me over backwards.
yea i went to the stealer today.....
they told me my assembly is broken and they
had to change it... 1300 bucks....yea right...
i mean it cant be that broken if it opens just fine,
anyone knows how to align the moonroof?

Ok, so I found out how to remove the lamp panel and I tried closing the thing manually.. it wont close all of the way!! It's stuck at the tilt part.. the right side closes ok, but the left side is up alittle... AARRGGGHHH!!!
holy shit... that sick.......
well im not gonna fix that... i just live with it....
i mean my moonroof opens all the way without a prob
and it closes almost all the way (just almost though)
with a push it closes. but my sunshade doesnt close......

You're lucky. After my trip to the dealer my moonroof doesn't even close anymore. I think they broke it intentionally so that I HAVE to get it fixed. I'm pissed. I guess my only other choice is to visit an Independant shop. BTW, it was CalStar Mercedes in Glendale. Bastards!!
11/10/06 - Update: So I bring my car back and tell them that they broke it. My SA checks it out and say's "sounds like the motor went out".. and luckily for me the motor for the moonroof is covered under my extended warrantly. So they send a driver out to pick me up at work and I go pick up my car. My SA is waiting and tests out the moonroof.. he said that I would still need new tracks for it but guess what..??? It works like brand new!!! I'm never opening that bad boy again!!
My 2003 coupe has the same problem. I removed the lamp assy and found that there are 2 motors. The one on the left appears to open and close the glass, and the one on the right opens and closes the cover.
When I took off the lamp panel, there was a brass bolt sitting loose, and it fell off the left motor. I tried to put it back in, but the hole seems to be stripped.
My glass also opens just fine, but when i close it, it makes that rattling nose which is caused by the motor bumping up and down since the bolt that holds it fell out. When i held the motor tight with my hand, the roof closes just fine, but once it's closed, the motor pops so much that i can't even old it tight with all my strength. That's what made the bolt pop out.
It seems like there's some signal the left motor gives the right motor once the roof is fully close, so that the right motor engages and can then close the cover. I can't get mine to go that far, but i did get it closed. The only way to close my cover is to use a hex wrench and do it manually.
I still can't figure out what's wrong though. Is it a bad motor? Is it a stripped bolt hole? Is it something else?
