I'm hoping some experts here can help with this.
There's an option in my display center to sync time with head. I assume that syncs it with the Sirius radio, but it may be syncing it with the Sat Nav. I'm not sure.
Anyway, whenever I use that option, my time is 2 hours off, as if somewhere I am using Mountain time ( I'm on the East Coast ).
I saw no option anywhere that it asks me where I am, so I don't know or understand how to fix this.
I am therefore setting my time manually.
I'd like to be able to do the sync with head thing.
My S-Class has a bluetooth synch time option, and I thought it went off of my phone's time ("GPS time").
However, it sounds like you're XM is synching to the clock there, not the satnav because it is not giving you the proper time zone. Perhaps it has a "setup" screen that is easter-egged in the display or button combos like our RX-8 was, or the XM radio thinks you are from Wyoming lol.
I'm not sure how much data can be downloaded from the satellites to the head unit, but time via based location could very well be one of them, so start by checking your subscription service online and seeing in your preferences where it is set to. After that, it just HAS to be in the touch-screen menu somewhere, like a time zone setting or something.
Did you buy your car used, or new? If used, did it come with the 50000 pages of user manuals? Try there too. I'll go in the garage and look at the S-Class books since my wife has the C at work and let you know if I come up with anything else. Reading the S-Class manuals is akin to trying to read the entire set of World Book Encyclopedias in one draw, so it will take a bit.
Thanks DrFoster,
I think it's the instrument clock, that is syncing with either the nav or the sat ( as you say, probably the sat ).
I did go online to sirius.com and found no time zone settings. I looked at all the settings on my nav and saw no place to set a timezone.
Funny thing, if it syncs with the nav, I would imagine it always knows that timezone it's in.
I haven't tried to see if there is any timezone setting in the car for the sat in the command module.
And yea, I actually did look at the owners manual and could find nothing about it, except that it is an option to sync time with "head".
Ok DrFroster, I got it figured out.
It does help to go over the manual again. Actually the answer WAS in the Nav manual like you said.
There is a SERVICE Hard button, that leads to a System soft button, that leads to a Time soft button that leads to the TimeZone and the Daylight Savings Time.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction ( RTFM ) .
