Greetings everyone,
I'm here just doing a little research about my brother-in-laws 2003 mercedes C230 Kompressor (I think it's 4-door).
His brake light has come on and we both agree that the $800 that his dealer has asked for new front brakes is too high.
I am completely comfortable doing brakes, but I want to ask a few questions before I get too involved. I have searched the forum and found the following "how to"..
My questions are as follows:
Do I need to have some diagnostic tool to get the brake warning lamp to turn off on the dash, or will it automatically reset once I replace the sensors?
He has less than 30Kmiles on his car, the rotors look like they're in good shape, does mercedes leave a lot of stock on the rotors so I won't need to replace them?
Are the two drift pins all that hold the pads in place? It looks like the pads are easier to replace on his mercedes than they were on my Volkswagen.
How much should I pay for pads at the dealership, and is there a better place online to buy the pads?
If anyone has part numbers for the pads and sensors, that info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for any advice.
