Service Timer Reset for 2006 C230 - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum

Does any one know how to reset the service timer for the 2006 C230 models. I can tell you for sure that it is not the same as the 2005 C230K. I read the forums with instructions for the C230K, it might work for the 2005 series, but for the 2006, instead, it resets all your settings to factory default settings. I decided to take my car to MB yesterday and Service Adviser said Service A is too early (I only have 8K miles and I only own the car for 5 months)...The service adviser reset the Service Timer right in front of me. The process is very similar to the 2005 C230K (you still have to toggle the "Service A due" screen, just everything past that I didn't really catch.

So if anyone knows the trick for the 2006 models I would greatly appreciate your help.

well I can't answer ur question but do u know how to reset it for an 02 c230K??

I had my oil changed and now the timer is telling me i'm like 1500 miles past my service

If you were in the menu that had you reset the factory settings you may have been in the wrong screen. If you start from the "A/B Service due in ??? Miles", that should be the right screen.

Yea I was in the right screen...the procedure works on the 2005 models and down i guess, but for the 2006 year its different. Any other suggestions would be great!

EnkeiDynamics...for the 02 C230K you simply toggle the "Service due in (X amount) miles" screen. Hold down the reset button for 3 seconds. System will ask for your confirmation. Press and hold the reset button again. Thats it.

I have a 2006 C230 Sedan and have the same problem as pazo, except I have overdue service notifications. I perform my own services and would also like to know how to reset the FSS can anybody walk through it step by step?

If you notice, the thread was started in June. It is now January, and I still have no idea how to reset the service timer yourself in the 2006 models. I just ended up taking the car to the dealer, and showing them the paperwork from Jiffy Lube, that I did my service.

I think the last DIY reset to the light was for the 2004.5 model...

I just completed the B service tonight on my 2006 C230 and reset the service timer. 25,600 miles

Note:
When the timer is approximately 500 miles from service, the display will post a reminder for five seconds each time you turn on the ignition counting down by 100 mile increments until it reads 'service B is due'.

Step
1. Step into car, shut the door and turn on the ignition. Do not crank/start engine. On this step, the service due message will post. Allow five seconds to pass until normal/regular information display is shown.

2. I then pushed the up arrow button on steering wheel to display service interval. It read 'Service B is due now'.

3. Push reset button(also serves as dasboard dimmer dial) left of temp gauge for several seconds. Service display will then show press for 3 seconds to reset timer. After three seconds with finger on reset button, timer will reset. Mine read 'Service A 13,000 miles'.

I know that doesn't work for mine...I have listened to a lot of music waiting for that to work with my finger on the reset button...

You have helped me out many times and I think that maybe you had the key on "accessory" (1) position rather than the "on"(2) position. If it is not in the "on"(2) position than nothing will happen. Hopefully this will help out. It seems that the 2006 and 2005 models are the same, but I am not sure since I have not attempted to reset a 2006.
