W203 Toolkit

I bought a used W203 C200K sedan ( Year 2001 ) recently and noticed that the car does not come with the usual MB cloth toolbag. In fact, there are hardly any tools; apart from the spare tyre & jack, the only tools in the wheel well tray are a lugnut wrench, a towing eye bolt, a wheel centering bolt, a wheel chock and a set of spare lugnuts. There are no pliers, wrenches or even a screwdriver.

Can someone confirm if these are the only tools that come with the car, or am I missing anything? Thanks.

That's exactly it...they don't want us to even come close to touching the cars.

We recently bought our oldest daughter a Starmarked C320. soon after we gave her the car she called me from a gas station. The conversation went something like this:

"Hey Dad, I was just putting as in the car and you know how you always taught me to check the il and make sure everything is OK under the hood?"

"Yeah, I remember teaching you all of that...what's the matter?"

"Well, my new car is broken or something, I can't find the dipstick!"

Well, a call to Tele-Aid (she had left the Owner's Manual back at her place) confirmed what we now know...no dipstick. the computer will tell you when you need oil.

It's a Brave New World indeed.

Did a bit more research, popped into the dealer's parts department, chatted with one of the service managers and guess what I found out? The early W203's actually did come with a blue cloth toolkit roll, similar to that with the W202's. The later W203's did away with this, part of the general cheapening of materials & cost reductions, I guess. For those who may be interested, the part no. is a2035800003 and contains the following :

1. a0005810317 - Reversible screwdriver
2. a1205810246 - Lugnut wrench
3. a0005810654 - Fuse Pliers
4. a1295810038 - Channel-lock pliers
5. a1264030074 - Wheel centering pin
6. a1405890101 - Open-end wrench 8/10
7. a1405890001 - Open-end wrench 13/17

And the cloth tie-up bag, of course. I assume that the previous owner 'retained' this toolbag, and left me with only the lugnut wrench & wheel pin. I am now looking around ebay to try to get a replacement set on the cheap!

how early are you talking about? mine is a 2002 btw. It doesn't have those screwdrivers, etc etc.

my sister's w208 320 does have all that.
