How to reset "brake pads wear" message?

Hello,
Does anyone know how to reset "brake pads wear" message on 2003 C230K Coupe. I just replaced my front brakes but not sure how reset the warning message. (If anyone interested, dealer asked for over $500 just to replace front brakes, ouch).
Thank you.

$500 seems fair to replace the entire brakes calipers, rotors and pads. If you wore the brakes down to the point the sensors tripped you need a new brake sensor to put in the hole in the pad.

Hey, St3rling, welcome to the forum.

If the dealer did the work they would have replaced the sensor. Once the sensor is replaced the message simply goes away on the next cycle, you don't have to reset it.

Did the warning ever disappear? If it was like that when you picked it up you need to ask the dealer what the issue is. I have seen it where the wire for the sensor is misrouted and it wears through and shorts out right away, turning on the message (yeah, I've even done that...!).

if you did the work yourself you would have needed to replace the sensors; they are cheap, even at the dealer.

And I have to ask, but did you check the rears?

On the cost, my dealer (E320, but really the same stuff involved) quoted $975 for F&R pads and rear rotors. I did it myself, bought all new Brembo rotors and Axxis Ultimate pads, parts were under $400 including shipping.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

I believe $500 for dealer to just replace the pads only, NOT calipers or rotors. the whole thing should be over $1500 !!

No way, pads? They cost $88 at the counter, sensor another ~10 and it's a half hour labor, maybe a full hour tops if the rotors need turning and they repack the wheel bearings. I'm sure they are at miminum replacing the rotors and pads, sure it's not needed except for their greed. Replace the pads yourself, takes about an hour, most of that time is spent jacking the car up and removing the wheels, putting them back on and lowering the car, actual pad replacment time, 5 minutes. With a lift in a shop with airtools on the ready, they are done in 15 minutes and that's taking their time, I know I waited and watched, they charged me $48 labor at the dealer, I brought in my own Poterfield pads.

That's MB of Laguna Niguel, that's just pads, nothing else, no sensor, no turning rotors or repack wheel bearings.
