I can understand more than many the need to save money but what are you looking at spending and what are your expectations? I see you spending about $700-800 for a kludge attempt at getting xenons vs. about $1,000 - 1,300 to get factory bi-xenons. Keep in mind the factory bi-xenons are for low and high beam, your solution would just be only low beam unless you get two HID kits but then you are in the same price range as factory and a wiring mess that will not please your dealer if they have to troubleshoot an electrical problem.
I think you are on the right track.
It is the most cost effective solution.
You are not alone on this issue.
I am thinking about replacing my 2002 c-class sport coupes with the clear projector lenses and install HID kit for low beam too.
How often you use high beam HID is another question, in my area, I hardly use high beam at all.
The only problem is I don’t know how to remove the front bumper to replace the head lights.
BTW, someone just told me that i don't have to buy the new headlights for $400. Apparently, you can just buy the clear lens and projector for about $150, and then throw in an HID kit for $300 or so. Guys, correct me if i'm wrong about any of this PLEASE. That's why i'm writing this!
P.S. I also want to upgrade my foglights. I saw some clear fogs on eBay for about $100. I'm thinking of buying those and a second HID kit. Would that work?
