My dealer tells me that the long awaited IPOD integration kit is finally here. I didn't want to be the first one they installed ... but I'm chomping at the bit here to get one. Has anyone else done this yet?
Great! A few questions: what was the "with everything"? Do you mean including the IPOD device itself, or just the integration kit and installation? I think that MB said that the recommended cost was $299 + installation, so I was shocked when my dealer said that it would be something like $350 installed. What model vehicle did you install it on? Does the integration work smoothly? Can you control everything thru the steering wheel audio controls? Do you get to see your play lists etc... on the dashboard display?
I already had the iPod, so no, the $700 did not include the device. You can control everything through the steering wheel. All the functions on the ipod can be seen. The sound quality is perfect, whatever the quality of the sound, it will be the same in the car. I have an iPod mini, 2005 C230 sedan, 6 disc changer, Audio 20 unit (not command). I think it is great, especially when you drive around for more than an hour, you can just sit back and listen to anything you want. I think I answered all questions.
My '06 C230 went in for Service A Friday, and I had the dealer install the iPod kit yesterday. I must say it is pretty nice. The kit, including installation and a little cradle in the glovebox, cost $700. It works really well.
There is a long iPod dock connector cable attached securely to the side of the glovebox, and a little cradle that sits on the top shelf. The iPod plugs in and is out of sight on the glovebox. I have the non-COMAND radio, and to activate the iPod, I only have to hold down the CDC button for about 4 seconds. All the iPod info is displayed on the heads-up screen. I can browse by artist, album, playlist, song, anything you can browse by on the iPod itself. The sound quality is as good as a CD.
I would highly recommend the kit to anyone with an ipod and who is willing to dish out the $$.

I am interested if there is something else I need to do except of install it, like changing codes and doing something with the software od Audio 20?

I purchased my IPOD integration kit for $195.00 USC on ebay and had Best Buy install it for $55.00 USC. Functional wise, it's great, however, sound quality could be better.
The MB dealership here in Chicago offered to install it for $394.00 USC. I happily declined that offer.
