Hello People

I'm from the UK and drive a 330i Sport. Yeah yeah, I know it's not a Mercedes, but I am in the market to buy one for my wife.

After looking at a number of different cars, she's decided on the C200 Kompressor (used).

I have come across one that I may buy. It is an 03 plate (March to Septemebr 2003) Classic SE.

I'm curious, have there been any engine changes since the model's inception? If so, has the C200 Kompressor been affected. Would a car built when the one I may potentially buy be affected as well?

I would really appreciate any help in terms of advice i.e. what to look out for etc. when buying one of these cars.

It will be bought from a dealer with most of the warranty intact, so that's not a major concern.

Also, what kind of real-world fuel consumption could I expect out of the car?

The early W203 four cylinder cars used the M111 cast iron block engine. After about May 2002 they started using the M271 aluminum block engine. The new engine has balance shafts and is a lot smoother. It also pollutes less and gets 7% better gas mileage than the M111.
