has anyone experienced this?

i was driving one day and all of the sudden i started to get all these malfunction lights turning on. A brake pad workshop, and an abs, esp, and bas light comes on saying visit workshop display defective. then my car automatically slows down to 10 mph, and i cant drive faster than that. When i shift into drive or reverse the car does a hard jerk. some of the features on my computer dont work, and its like when i get the car to move when the car reaches 10 mph, the car like cuts the fuel to the engine, then when i slow down it gives it fuel and so on. if anyone know whats goin on i would really like your help PLEASE!!!!!!

Sounds like your ECU is wigging out. If it was HAL from 2001 A Space Odyssey it would be saying "my mind is going, no question about it."

RE: has anyone experienced this?

My car had a much milder case of your car's ailment this past week. While driving on the highway the dashboard display flashed warnings for the ESP system and the BAS system. The malfunction warnings flashed alternately until I shut the car off. Upon restarting the engine the warning messages were reset. The car drove normally and did not go into the "limp home mode" you described - that's what Saab called it when my old 9-5's engine management computer went crazy and I had to drive home (50 miles) at 20 MPH. I dropped my car off at the MB dealer this morning and I'll post any information I get from them when I pick it up. Maybe it will help.......

RE: has anyone experienced this?

Finally got my car back today. Turns out the malfunction was due to a faulty ESP Cable Harness. I've included a copy of the invoice just in case it may be of use. Good Luck!

RE: has anyone experienced this?

thanks a lot phat benz. I was talking to my father about the problem and when he ran a diagnostic he found the problem to be somewhere in the esp module. Still hasnt exactly found where in the module the problem is but i'll run the fault codes that you had by him and see if there the same. Thanks a lot for the follow up. I'll let you know wat happens.

thanks
