All depends on the options. The easiest way to tell is look at the window sticker for the MSRP price and subtract at least $5,000. If your amount is above that, pass. A basic 2004 C230K Sedan should sell for about $24,500. Auto and sunroof make that $27,500. Add a C-Spot coupon for another $1,500 off and the basic C230 Sedan is $23,000.
Hi guys,
Brand new to the forum. Considering buying a C230 manual and this thread forced me to post.
Is this MSRP-$5000 really a general sentiment? As a friend of mine said "When did M-B go all Wal-Mart with their pricing?" Not that I'm complaining; it's just that doing the math makes it seem that for a C230, -$5000 puts you well under Invoice. If I'm going to walk into a dealer and say I want this car for XXXXX-5000, I don't want to get laughed at (though of course a good dealer wouldn't do that). Thanks for the input.
MB's have always sold for huge discounts when their supply gets high. On good month you can get $6k off, add to that the c-spot $1,500 coupon and that's pretty good. This does take a toll on resale value so don't expect Audi or BMW resale unless you buy at the huge discount. Surprisingly, the offer is now over and the best you can do is $3K off (+ coupon), sorry you missed it. Another sale will come along, maybe for Independence day.
Yeah, I understand that they were running a factory to dealer cash program that ended two days ago. But I'm not ready to buy yet anyway, so I can wait.
The thing is, I was toying with idea of the European Delivery option, but that only saves 7% off MSRP. In the face of haggling, that doesn't seem like such a great deal (ignoring the whole driving the Benzo in Europe angle).
