230 Kompressor vs. 325 BMW

I am in the market right now and considering purchase of 230 Sedan Kompressor vs. 325 MBW? Anybody have feedback? Experiences worth considering one vs. the other?

Looking to buy this weekend?

it really depends on personal taste...
supercharger vs. v6...

i considered 325i initially, but decided to go w/ c240... so many reasons, exterior design, features, etc... but mainly, i wanted luxury car than performance car...

personally i'd recommend c230k...

BMW uses an inline 6 not a V6. The BMW is a little sportier and the Mercedes is a little more luxurious.

The "C" has more of a wedge shape, which I prefer over the older "boxier" look of the 3-series. [8D]

i'd suggest u go with 325i...don't get me wrong..i love my c230k in every way but bmw is a bit better in terms of performance and handling...if u considered more on luxury, go with c230k[:)] good luck!

Well you have to take into consideration how much you want to tune your car. meaning are you going to go all out and try and do everything or just some wheels maybe a body kit suspension and stereo. All these things come into play. Now if you are looking to get alot of parts for your car I would go with the BMW but if you like a luxury car that outperforms the BMW then I would go with the Benz. I prefered the Benz because you see too many BMW's out on the road and it has become very average don't get me wrong I love BMW's but the C230k SS is a luxury car, a sports car, and it's a 4 cylinder supercharged and has more horsepower. Just chip the Benz and you get about 25% more horsepower and it will only cost you around $300 so from 190 hp to 237hp with only a chip! pretty solid. Now with the inline 6 you get about 12-20 hp more not very much of an increase in hp.

I have a 2002 325CI (xenon/luxury/sport/HK package) and I just bought a 2005 C230 sedan last week to replace my '99 C230K SS.

I've always loved Mercedes because of the superior build quality and solid construction but I have admired BMW for aggressive styling, performance and price (respectve to MB).

Like MJ said, it depends on your preference. For myself, I like the sportiness and handling of my 325CI but it rides a little rough and shifting gears constantly on the 405 FWY is not a thrill when you're stuck in traffic for 2 hours. The C230 is great for commuting and the '05 C230 is even sportier than before (compared to my old 99 C230K SS). MB made a bold move to offer the '05 C230 with the AMG bodywork, big brakes, 17", lowered suspension and staggered rims as standard equipment at a low price in comparison to the rest of the C-class lineup. (I am sure alot of C32 owners are writting complaint letters to the MB home office.) Also, the stock C230 stereo is much better than the optional HK sound system in the 325CI and the Mercedes gets better gas mileage.
So if I had only one choice, it would be the '05 C230.

[P.S. About getting more horses out of the C230K, I think you have upgrade the pulley, and chip the ECU to get a considerable HP gain. Please correct me if I am wrong, but most chips do not add more boost (asinstalled in a turbocharged system). It changes when the supercharger comes online, raises the redline between shifts and removes the 155mph limiter (like that last one matters).]

i was just like you about 9 months ago. I was either gonna get the BMW or the Benz but i went with the Benz because the interior looks better and its more luxury than the BMW. I was 17 years old when i got it and i just prefered the luxury sedan over a sport sedan. Also take into consideration if you are going to modify the car because Benz aftermarket parts are harder to find than BMW parts. It took me a long time to look for my suspension and the lights especially the LED on the side mirror and i still can't find it yet. I think you should go with the Benz because its more classy.

What it comes down to for me is value. I just bought a brand new 2004.5 C230K Sport Sedan, metallic paint, leather (standard), 17" wheels (standard), brembo brakes and lowered sport suspension (standard) and a sunroof for $25.3K using my c-spot coupon and a carsdirect.com price. A similarly equiped 325i with premium package (moonroof), sport package to get the sport suspension and 17" wheels and leather shows at the discounted price of 32.7K. So you have to ask yourself, is the BMW 325i worth over $7,000 more? Also consider that you can get a 2004 C320 Sport Sedan in this BMW 325i range. 2005 MB's are priced higher so I'm basing this on 2004.5 models and the c-spot coupon (you can find them on ebay or attend the last event of the year tomorrow in Sacramento).

But money isn't the only reason I didn't get a Bimmer. The local BMW dealer has a bad service reputation, they don't do loaners and they are 10 miles from me. The MB dealer gives me MB loaners, they provide free full service car washes, have a great service reputation and are only 1 mile from me.
Check out both dealerships and see which one you want to do business with for a few years, a good dealer can make a bad situation OK, a bad dealer can ruin your day. Also, a word of caution, the 2005 MB's do not come with 4 years of free maintenance, something to consider as the 2004 still do. Don't know if the 2005 BMW's will or won't
