why don't u rewrap the leather? you might actually like alcantara, try something different, look at this as an opportunity.

so in san diego you have to look for a leather upholstery place. like im not trying to stereotype or anything but my mom is really good at this stuff and im sure if she was around she could just do it for me. (im korean)

there may also be places that specialize in car interior upgrades so look for those. Alcantara can't be that hard to work with, i used to own a civic si and the civic guys LOVE fooling around with their interior (since the civic interior is really plasticy!) and one of the things they do is wrapping their trim peices with alcantara or fabric or even vinyl. BMW guys are also known for this.

I actually wrapped my interior peices with a carbon fiber look a like fabric which turned out nice if you are interested i could point you in the right direction there too.

Heres a BMW thread of an alcantara rewrap, see if this helps you! Alcantara Steering Wheel Re-Wrap For $80.00 - E46Fanatics

people retrofit the w203 steering wheels but the buttons on them wont work unless you buy a harness to a supporting radio.

for me, it's not worth it. i had the buttons on my steering wheel on a different car and i never used it. it doesnt make it any more dangerous for me to reach over to the radio to control thigns.

also, how much are you willing to spend? i mean if you have $400 or $500 do what you want and get a brand new steering wheel, but remember you are driving an insanely old car. is it really worth it? calculate the value of the car and the price of installing a new steering wheel and youll notice that it doesnt make any bit of sense.

My advice, go to a leather upholstery place and have them do the whole things for $200.

You make it sound like he's driving a 1980 Ford!?? There ain't many C36 AMG's left, and their getting rarer, if you really like the car, and your going to keep it, I say go for it!

i mean if you are that picky about authentic parts then go ahead and spend an arm and a leg for a new steering wheel.

i would rather keep my original wheel and try to restore it... its worth a shot if you're already gonna replace it.
