I currently own a 2000 c230k and just test drove this guys 99 c43 and I really want it haha
The thing is its going to need new brakes and tires and the windshield will need to be replaced.
Any recommendations on brakes and tires? Also whats some common problems with c43s at around 85k miles on the engine? I here stuff about spark plugs needing to be replaced.
My insurance is looking to be around 220 or more a month with it hahah...I am only 21 with two speeding tickets on my record.
I am really hoping to get it tho....was real fun to drive. I already really like my c230k.
Edit: I found out my current insurance will only charge 500 every 6 months....not bad but still not good haha

JMHO, but all you're really buying is more speeding tickets and brakes that are more expensive to replace. $2,600 a year for insurance? Man. I'd definitely wait until some of those points fell off my license.
If you're doing the work the parts are still pricey for the AMG variants. The pair of front rotors are more than all four rotors and pads for the non-AMG, for example.

Yeah I am aware of the extra cost on parts....I can deal with that. It does suck with the insurance. Also still trying to get some more quotes on it...so it might be cheaper in the end. With an AMG would be really hard not speeding haha but tbh It was when I first started driving when I got the tickets. I have become a lot more mature about driving.
Where is a good place to order brakes and rotors from online?

As C43 owner, here are a couple things to look out for when looking to purchase. First off, these cars love to blow up their transmissions, and if it hasnt already been replaced, you are approaching that time. Mercedes claims the transmission does not require service, and does not include a dipstick to check the fluid. Be weary if the factory tamper seal is not intact, use of any fluid or additive other than specific MB fluid can destroy the tranny. I would advise you to take it to a dealer or qualified indy to inspect the trans carefully, including the electrical connector on the right side of the transmission. These love to leak, and the trans fluid can actually follow the cables into the shift control unit. Spark plugs and 02 sensors need to be replaced every 100k mi. Also, fuel filter is recomended at about 80k. Ensure nobody has installed a K&N air filter, as these can cause problems with the MAF. These cars also had a recall on the Crankshaft Dampener pulley, which failure can result in a hole in the oil pan. Inspect it carefully to insure it is not deteriorating and is rotating true. You can also call Mercedes with the VIN to find if the recall has been performed. Check to ensure the engine coolant is clear, it is mercedes specific. Green or other colored can damage the water pump. Check for rust on the door frames of the rear doors. Check the center vents on the dashboard work when the A/C is running. This is not a complete list, just all i could come up with off the top of my head.
Use only original Mercedes brake parts. Other manufactures parts may squeak or squeal. Also be sure to replace the sensors with the pads. I believe Mercedes recommends either continental or Michelin tires, check with a dealer or good Indy.
