The C36 AMG Silicone Intake Coupler Upgrade

Hey guys,

Finally got around to doing the silicone coupler intake upgrade. This one is a very simple one, it only takes about 5-10 minutes. You will only need a phillips/flathead combo screw driver and the Silicone coupler. This is perfect for all C36 AMGs b/c the stock ribbed rubber one always cracks over time plus it is not smooth for air flow, 2 birds one stone.

I purchased the 2-ply turbo coupler off ebay. I chose 2ply b/c 3ply really isn't neccessary for NA application and also the 2-ply is more flexible. In addition the 2-ply is only $10 SHIPPED! (the 3-ply are $20+ shipped for same thing). I got a 3.0" diameter, 3" long black silicone coupler to keep it as OEM as possible.

As you can see it looks VERY OEM and you can't even tell its there, my stock one was so cracked I was actually getting check engines b/c of it so I did this and now its perfect and goes very well with the rest of the engine bay. I also had my valve cover recoated in bright silver b/c the old coating was getting old and yellowish (as most M104s are). I also added new AMG emblem b/c the stock ones always crack & peel. I also replaced valve cover gaskets while I was in there. There is NO REASON why anyone shouldn't do this mod, it will save alot of headache down the road plus it looks much nicer and functions better than the stock one and you will never have to replace it again.

Heres the ebay auction, Just offer 5.50 and he will accept:

eBay Motors: High Temp 2-ply Silicone Turbo Hose Coupler 3.0 inch (item 330224886969 end time Apr-08-08 20:39:18 PDT)

Pics, Enjoy....

Hey guys,

The seller of the auction has like 17 left I think, I highly recommend everyone going and getting it, at that price it would be stupid not do, plus it helps smooth airflow through the Air sensor and may even help out a bit in performance (plus it will last the life of the car).

What do you mean when you say the stock C36 one is not smooth? Do you know that really smooth surfaces can actually offer greater resistance to air flow because they cause a lot of eddy currents. Anyway...Im just curious.

Hey Dr

How many more horsepower do you get using this thingie? As much or more than you get when you use the superdooper purple oil. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

The stock one fails and causes check engine lights to go off b/c it is a ribbed design, its really bad for airflow and also it cranks and causes havoc. You'd be foolish not to buy one and prevent that from happening to you. this + K&N will give you about 5HP, not a huge amount, but its better than nothing.

You obviously aren't very knowledgable since you are insulting the best oil out there.

children.

Dr. C36,

More to the point.

Where in hell did you get the C36 intake crossover trunking without the normal collateral damage to the attachment lugs?!

hehe, I'm lucky, previous owner replaced it. believe me its almost impossible to find them in mint condition. I am currently trying to make one in CF so both C36 and non C36 guys can have them. Hopefully under $500 for everything. I'll have more news as it comes out.
