Well my first oil change is just around the corner. Since my car did not come with it's owners manual, what weight oil should be used?
I can't see paying $175 to the dealer for an oil change....so I'll do it myself.
Thanks,
Jason
Hi, Jason.
Unless for some reason you don't like Mobil1, their 0W40 formula is specified by MBZ for your engine. You can get it at most Pep Boys, Kragen/Shucks/Checker and Autozone stores. There are other manufacturers with other weights that meet the MBZ spec, but they're much harder to find than the 0W40 Mobil1.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Hey, Jason.
Glad you're enjoying it. That's a lot of engine for a small car, got to be fun.
Just for the sake of completeness, if you've got the automatic and haven't yet changed fluid and filter, that would be very high on our list of things to do ASAP.
Get a topside oil extractor from Pepboys for about $60.00. This way you can put the tube down your dipstick tube, remove the oil filter, and replace. All while standing in front of the car with a beer in one hand. Very simple and easy this way. I use Royal Purple 10W40. Order filters from an online supplier and stock up. I found them for about $5-8 compared to $20 which is what the dealer charges.

I have one and love it. I have used it for everything including diesel fuel filter changes.....
