reverse, aka backup, lights inop

Hi Y'all

I just found out my reverse lights are not working. Ckd the fuse, it was fine (mirrors wk ok also).

I also recently had the Alpine CD changer installed and they hacked the job badly, not realizing it was prewired!! I am wondering if this two items could be related... I mean, the stereo works fine, with a new amplifier and all, but since I just found the back up lights inop, I wonder if they could have messed something up while bloody re-wiring the stereo...

I understand there's a switch either in the tranny/shifter linkage with some bushings that can go bad... Where are these at?

TIA,

Serge

Problem fixed

The reverse/backup switch was ok. the linkage bushing was missing, but it didn't fix the problem. Found the secondary wiring harness from the switch to the 15-pin connector under the hood was totally biodegraded, just like the primary eng wiring harnesses do. It cost $98 from MB. Backup lights and neutral safety switch work fine now, and I have the whole engine rewired, since I also replaced the harness going to the aux air pump.
