Gasoline

Any opinions on regular gas vs premium in the C280? My
understanding is that both grades have the same energy content.
The premium is better to prevent knock or detonation in higher
compression engines (don't know what constitues higher
compression, 10.5:1 perhaps).

This is a topic that is debated forever with people arguing both ways. In your particular case, since you drive a car with a supercharger, it might be one case where the premium fuel is really providing useable benefit. FWIW, NPR's Car Talk discussed this again this morning. They said they feel it is only beneficial for people with high performance engines during the times when they are really pushing their engines hard.
