This is probably a rehash of an old topic but I can't seem to figure out how to search within a forum - so my apologies in advance if I'm posting a new thread for an old (already discussed) topic.
Now, with that having been said...
I recently (a few days ago) installed new bulbs for the fog, low and high beams in my 2000 c230 Kompressor sedan. Tested them all right there in the parking lot of the auto parts store. All seemed to be working well. So with my masculinity still intact I left thinking what a macho man I am. Well, not so fast there Tarzan...
Then, after not having driven the car for a day or so, I tried to flash my brights (flash to pass feature) and got a 'not my yob' response (i.e. they didn't work). I then pulled over and parked the car (I've tried parking the car without pulling over...not recommended) turned on the headlights, pushed the turn signal stalk forward to activate high beams and...zilch, nada, bupkis, zip, nuttin'.
Aw Crap. No flash to pass and no high beams. Now how am I gonna let the slow guy in front of me know how annoyed I am with him and his safe, sane driving habits?!?
Anyway... I Checked each and every fuse I could both under the hood and in the trunk. And unless the Germans, in a display of their 'superior engineering prowess', decided to put a third fuse box somewhere else like, oh let's say, inside one of the tires - then I'm out of ideas as to things to check.
So here's what I'm thinking (thinking - something I generally try to avoid doing at all costs)...
Maybe it's
a) a bad relay?
b) a bad headlight switch?
c) a bad multi-function (i.e. turn signal) stalk switch?
d) bad Kharma?
e) indigestion?
Any ideas, suggestions (other than to sell the car or dump it in the river) would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I bought the car two years ago from the daughter of the original owner - a little old lady who, sadly, passed on. It had 15K on the odometer then - ridiculously low for the age. Now up around 53K. I can't imaging the switches would be bad...but, then again, this car was designed by people who I wouldn't be surprised to learn actually did consider putting a third fuse box inside one of the tires (just a bit of levity...a very little bit I might add).
Seriously though - any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
