Gas-smell inside!

It has started to smell like gas when I get into the car in the morning, or whenever it has been a few hrs since last drive.

Is there a gasline-crack somewhere close to/ or that runs inside the cockpit that could cause this smell?

Great thanks! I did some research and seems plausable (spelling?)
Just so strange that fumes from there becomes that strong inside the cockpit.

Seems to happen at 10yrs+ - worth doing anyay to eliminate one possibility - use fuel injection hose (not ordinary fuel line).

You'll also need new hose clips - OEM can't be re fitted

Here's a pic of the cover and note the need for a long extension for 1 nut

Just talked to the parts store at my local Merc dealership, and he said there are three hoses. And since they cost like $100 for all three, I'm gonna jack up the car, remove the wheel and see which ones need replacing, or if all three needs replacing..

He told me partsnumbers:

# 2304768726 (this is the hose that goes from the top of the expantion tank, which you stick the gas-nossle into when you fill gas)

# 2024762026 (this is the hose that sits at the bottom of the same expation tank as mentioned above)

# 2024768726 (this is the hose that sits at the same place as the partsnumber above here)

Any thoughts? I mean a hundred dollars for three hoses.. c'mon..

Did mine with about 70cm of fuel injection hose - cost about $6 - hoses to replace will be self evident when you get the cover off.

Sorry cant remember the size but easy to figure out.

There aren't any really tight bends if you trim the length correctly - start long and reduce until you get a nice easy bend that isn't going to kink.

Good idea to allow system to depressurise overnight and do the job in the morning (take fuel cap off) - you'll lose a little fuel so good idea to have a flat dish and nail punch or similar tapered object to stick in the line when you first remove it. (will not continue to drip once pressure is released)

AS FUEL IS INVOLVED - USE CARE
