Hi- I am getting a clicking from my rear when I turn right at slow speeds. It lessens when I lift off the gas. Bearings, shocks appear to be good. I was thinking, because the car has 210k on it, to swap the diff fluid. My question is: Is this something I can do. I've heard there is no drain plug, so I would need a suction system. Also, if the clicking is not in the diff, what could it be? I can barely feel it on the shifter, and I know it is from the rear end. Any help would be appreciated. Curtis.
My W202 has a drain plug on the diff as well as a fill plug. IIRC it is a 14mm allen wrench to open it up. Best advice on changing the diff fluid is to ensure that you can remove the fill plug before you go and drain the fluid out of the drain plug. Whether or not this is causing your problem, you should be changing this fluid. I believe MB's recommendation is 96,000 kms/60,000 miles for that service.
Leave the fluid alone unless the differential is leaking. Only the ultra-performance AMGs have a requirement to change the differential fluid (and also have $5000 brake services). A typical C-class has no such requirement as you stated.

I will tear into it this weekend. I hope to find someting on the brakes/hubs. Once again, thanks for the input. Curtis.
