1997 C280 not shifting

I have a 1997 C280 that is not shifting out of first gear.I pulled the codes through the a/c system and these are what they gave me, but I don't have a clue how to read them.
23.2
23.3
41.6
41.9
Can anybody help or does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong.

I looked in alldata, and I can only seem to find codes that start with B, C or P or DTC.
I think you might have to scan the car with an external reader and get those codes. I think autozone will do that for free. If you post those codes back, I can try to help again. Or hopefully someone else has an idea.

Sounds like you trying to use the CCU for an obd reader.
You should purchase an OBD reader and read the codes that way or bring to auto parts store and they usually will do that for you.
In the meantime you can inspect the electrical plug for the transmission to see if that is leaking, this should be done periodically anyway.
Post back with your codes from a OBD reader and perhaps that will give everyone including yourself a starting point of what to look for. B

you can use your ccu for and obd reader, which set did you pull, did you do the rest, lo, or fan pull? each has a different diagnostics menu for codes

When was the last time you had your transmission fluid changed? most likely never. Mine is having trouble shifting too. Supposedly, the transmission fluid is a "lifetime fill" but it does wear out over time. just something i'd thought you'd like to know.

I've had the car for the last couple of years. It has 156K on it. I have never changed the trans fluid and I'm beginning to get a sickening feeling that it may have never been changed. Do you think that would worth giving a shot. I'm going to take it down to Autozone on the weekend to get the codes checked

Well, I mean, the transmission fluid wasn't designed to be changed every 40k miles or something like that. Supposedly, it's supposed to last you a couple hundred thousand miles. I'm just saying that you might want to get your fluid levels checked. Mine has gone 171k without a change, so maybe we're hitting the breaking point for the fluid?

That's the first thing a Euro mechanic said about the fluid before I could say anything else.

transmission failure codes. are you trying to read transmission fault codes through the A/C system??? Am I retarded to think that that is retarded?

transmission codes many and in the obd reader are in the P0700-P0899 range. usually there is the CEL associated with these faults.

check the fluid level, color, viscosity, smell. If it all looks good you could still change the fluid but the problem is most likely not the fluid.

you should have the codes read properly.

Love my 1995 C280. I would gladly give up my girlfriend before I give up my Mercedes Benz.
